Details

The following email has been sent to parents of years 3 5 7 9 and 11 students on Thursday 5 December 2024.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As per previous School communications we are excited that Guildford Grammar School will commence the transition to a School Provided Technology Program in 2025 for students in Years 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11. This letter outlines the arrangements for the rollout of devices in January 2025, ensuring a smooth transition for all students.

Year 3 and Year 5 Students

Devices for Year 3 and Year 5 students will be distributed during the first week of school. As it is important for these year levels to start their year with a focus on building connections and establishing routines during the first week, the rollout will happen towards the end of the week. Detailed information about the devices being provided can be found here.

To support our younger students in adapting to their devices, teachers will implement a comprehensive transition program. This will focus on fostering responsibility and care for the devices, as well as emphasizing the importance of digital citizenship in their learning journey.

Year 7, Year 9, and Year 11 Students

Parents of Years 7, 9, and 11 students are invited to attend a device issuance session with their children in early January 2025. Available session times and booking details can be viewed through the Parent Teacher Online (PTO) system, as per the details outlined below.

For families unable to attend these early sessions, devices will be distributed to students on their first day of school. Additionally, a special boarders’ session will take place on Monday 27 January.

Parents of Year 7 students are also encouraged to stay for an information session while their children receive their devices. This session will provide helpful guidance on device use, school policies, and digital safety practices.

Before attending the session, we recommend discussing password selection with your child. Passwords must:

  • Be 14 characters long
  • Include a capital letternumber, and special character
  • Avoid using names, birth dates, or repetitive patterns

For example, a secure password could look like: Pinkbluewhale1!.

Session Location and Logistics

Devices will be distributed in the Hamilton Library, located on the Senior School Campus in Building 19. Bookings can be made on the Parent Teacher Online (PTO) portal below:

If you need to adjust your booked session you can also do this on PTO.

NB: Please make sure you click the Download/Email Bookings button if you would like a record of your booking.

We appreciate your support in this initiative as we strive to enhance your child’s educational experience through innovative technology. If you have any questions or require assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our Technology Services team at techcentre@ggs.wa.edu.au.

We look forward to an exciting year ahead!
